Bloomer Creek Vineyard is delighted to celebrate the coming of the 2008 harvest season with an exhibition of new flower paintings by artist Steven Barbash. An opening reception will be held Friday, September 19 from 6 to 8 PM at the winery. Food, wine, and song, featuring chanteuse Sharon Costianes (performing songs of Edith Piaf at 7PM) will help to celebrate the joyful bounty of nature's gracious gifts to us all.
This exhibit will run concurrently with an exhibition being held at the Johnson Art Museum in Ithaca, NY featuring works from Barbash's private collection. Bloomer Creek will showcase Steven's own work: Fresh paintings done out-of-doors, focusing on a single flower stem painted in bright, lush color.
Steven Barbash (Web site)
retired from SUNY Cortland as a University Distinguished
Professor of art and art history. His work is included in numerous public and
private collections, including the Smithsonian museum, the National Museum of
American Art, the Pushkin Museum (Russia) and the Johnson Art Museum.
His prints have been featured locally in fine restaurants over the years, including
"L'Auberge" and "Renées" in Ithaca and "Pascal's" in Syracuse where his
work pairs beautifully with the fabulous food and fine wine
(which is where it all begins, n'est ce pas?).
Bloomer Creek is honored to present Steven's most recent paintings and we
look forward to celebrating this occasion with food, wine, and many friends this
fall.
